Smartron, a brand aiming to bring down IoT to consumer level products in India, they have a new budget phone with a celebrity branding, while owning this device gives you a celeb feel, it does save money off of your pocket and at the same time have a decent performance as a great phone to use.
The SRT phone, incase you didn’t notice stands for Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar a well known former cricketer, who’s an investor and brand ambassador for them.
- the smartron phone runs on 1.8GHz Octa-Core Snapdragon 652 Processor
- its powered up with 4GB RAM With 64GB on board storage
- 5.5″ FHD IPS LCD Display
- 13 MP primary Camera With Dual tone LED Flash
- 5MP secondary/selfie Camera
- Dual Micro SIM slot
- Android Nougat 7.1.1 with some extra features
- Support for 4G VoLTE
- Ports:USB Type-C, headphone jack
- All this running on 3000 MAh Battery.
They didn’t perhaps go too fashionable on this one as the possession of it gives some brand value to it by Sachin, it has a plastic body with smooth finish, the awkward placing of power button on top and the fingerprint area might need some time to get used to, while you have capacitive touch buttons off the screen, which is pretty responsive as well. over all build quality is top notch, doesn’t have any flex to it, so that must not be a problem.
Qualcomm’s mid-range Snapdragon 652 octa-core processor is being used inside, but with the almost stock OS I feel it way faster and lag free compared to other phones in this range, I had no issues while gaming on this device, neither I experienced lag nor did the device heat up like others, games like FIFA mobile,Nova, ran smoothly on the device, also giving me ample of battery to use.
I might back off on this one, it is not that bad, to be honest, but considering other budget phones in the segment it’s not that good, but maybe in further software updates this might get fixed, although it is quite decent for a normal user, unless you are a big shutterbee, and phone is gonna be your device for camera purposes
I do have several devices of same price segment, and compared to what they offer, all are equally good, on heavy gaming I had to plug in the charger at the end of my day, but who doesn’t, 3000MaH is great for the performance it’s offering.
As mentioned they use Stock android on this device which I like, as I can customize with launchers if I want or revert to the minimal and vanilla of Android, they also have an app(tronx) inbuilt to it which might be of use, leaving that few extra features like turning off notification for only messages, etc. apart from that I didn’t see any unnecessary bloatware, which is great.
I feel Smartron is heading in the right direction with IoT and home automation, as far as device goes, I miss memory expansion, and I hope the picture quality is improved in further updates or next phone, apart from that considering the performance and lag-free stock experience, the srt phone is a great buy, the call quality was great, also as it supports 4G LTE you can call people using a Jio Sim with no problems at all, with a great overall experience, we also get that slight excitement for using the phone of ‘god of cricket’
